I was always having to take that car into the shop. Now, I have a 740i BMW '95. So far, the following things have gone wrong with this car: 1. Integrated phone shorts out regularly, despite multiple service calls. 2. Driver and passenger power windows went out. Had them fixed and they damaged the right front speaker. Took in to have speaker fixed and dealership didn't repair. 3. Certain lamp housings on exterior of car get condensation -- inexplicably. 4. Tail light keeps going out. Had to replace housing. 5. Driving on freeway and transmission fail-safe came on: completely disengaging transmission! 6. Erosion on radiator cap. The dealership asked if I had put oil in the radiator!!! 7. Bushings squeak, even though car has low miles. 8. After a rain, sunroof stopped working intermittently. 9. The radio/phone went out and the dealership replaced the whole radio console!! We would have to wait weeks to get an appointment at the dealership to have the car serviced. Luckily, we bought the extended warranty. Needless to say, we'll not be looking to purchase a BMW again.
